ARC is looking for a Manager, Data Engineering to join our team! In this role, you will manage the world’s most accurate and comprehensive air transaction data representing 68% of all trips taken globally, more than any other source of air passenger travel data.  You'll lead a talented data engineering team that designs and builds ARC’s enterprise data platform.  You will be expected to provide technical leadership and collaborate with peers, product owners, and other stakeholders to ensure the data engineering strategy is scalable, forward-thinking, supports the business needs, and enables the teams to deliver data and BI products efficiently and effectively. The Manager, Data Engineering plays a key role in the development of new data products and features and end to end support while ensuring data is of high quality and availability.

What You'll Get to Do:

  1. Manage and be actively involved in the career development of a team of people who report to you but are assigned to agile product development teams. Provide the team members with coaching, support, and management guidance.  Ensure consistent development practices, remove roadblocks, and foster a culture of continuous improvement and learning.
  2. Use deep knowledge and understanding of the technical landscape to support the teams, provide direction, mentor, and lead. Solid technologist with a deep background in data engineering, database management, data governance, data analytics, or the like.
  3. Develop individual team members. Ensure individuals on the team have the tools and resources to continue to learn and grow in their roles. Ensure that they are keeping abreast of the latest tools and technologies in their area of specialization.  Ensure team members are aware of, contributing to, and supporting the data strategy.
  4. Ensure that individuals on the team are showing up well on their product teams and that they are contributing at the highest level and helping to make their team successful.
  5. Work with Product Owners, Portfolio Managers, and other leaders throughout the organization to ensure that engineering is supporting and enabling company priorities. Work with other managers and leaders to drive the data strategy and ensure that the right skill sets are available to support product initiatives.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field preferred; equivalent experience considered
  • 2+ years experience managing , coaching and developing employees
  • 7+ years of experience with full cycle development (Full SDLC experience: design, development, delivery, etc.)
  • 4+ years with Agile, Scrum, DevOps, and Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery
  • 7+ years of experience with data platforms and solutions using:
  • Cloud-based solutions and technologies (AWS, Google, Azure).
  • Knowledge and experience with modern, cloud-based data warehouse platforms such as Snowflake and Redshift.
  • Experience w/data lake and data warehouse concepts and design patterns
  • Ability to lead a group through an architectural development process and collaborate with stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to discover and define functional and non-functional requirements and to transform them into technical requirements and solution definition
  • Ability to influence technology strategy and best practices across peer and leadership groups to support an agile development culture
  • Outstanding communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate with internal and external customers and all levels of management, including communicating technical information to nontechnical audiences
