ARC is looking for a Scrum Master II to join our team! In this role, you will lead scrum teams. The Scrum Master II plays a critical role in the planning, development, and execution of product backlogs for existing products as well as for new product development. You will collaborate with external stakeholders and cross-functional groups to communicate plans, dependencies, risks/issues and resource requests. You will coach and motivate team members, take the lead in removing obstacles impeding product development, and support changes that will ensure quality, timeliness, and a successful product. This role supports buildout of EPMO services, including the refinement of the ARC agile framework, project management framework, and use of tools like Atlassian Jira.

What You'll Get to Do:

  1. Leads the planning, refinement, and management of the product/team backlog. Organizes and facilitates sprint ceremonies (sprint planning, daily sprint standups, sprint retrospectives, demos) and other scrum-related events as needed. Facilitates the process by which the team evaluates product/epic-level requirements and estimates level of effort (LOE) in support of program-level planning efforts.
  2. Provides overall management for a team and is accountable for results. Assists team with making appropriate sprint commitments through story selection and task definition and meeting those commitments. Tracks and communicates team progress/status to all affected stakeholders and management.
  3. Proactively identifies issues and risks and creates action or mitigation plans. Escalates and communicates those risks/issues with stakeholders, the leadership team and through status reporting. Pays close attention to dependencies, adherence to product roadmaps, and demonstrated value.
  4. Collaborates with the product owner and other stakeholders as needed on product roadmap development and other activities. Understands the product and how it fits within the ARC product portfolio.
  5. Communicates team member roles and responsibilities. Ensures healthy team dynamics by coaching and motivating team members and by creating an environment that encourages creative problem solving and new ideas.
  6. Coaches team on the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, accountability, transparency, and self-organization. Ensures the application of ARC’s espoused framework and the appropriate use of selected tools such as Atlassian Jira. Assists EMPO to identify areas of improvement with ARC’s agile framework or other EPMO services to support the expansion of the EPMO’s capabilities.

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree with preference for degree in a technical field
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a scrum master; preference for 5+ years of IT project related experience with at least 3 years’ experience as a scrum master
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a scrum master and 6 years’ experience of IT project related experience if no Bachelor’s degree
  • Able to build strong relationships with team members, management, and internal and external stakeholders
  • Able to collaborate with peers, management, and other levels of the organization, and with varying degrees of technical knowledge
  • Able to indirectly lead a cross-functional team, with both remote and co-located team members
  • Experience with Agile techniques such as user story development, backlog refinement, and story pointing
  • Preference for experience with Atlassian tools (i.e., Confluence/Jira).
  • Desires to continuously develop self and support other’s development
