ARC is looking for a Platform Engineer to join our team! As a Platform Engineer, you will have the opportunity to provide lifecycle management of ARC’s infrastructure systems including supporting, administering, and maintaining enterprise hardware and software platforms. You will perform the deployment, patching, securing, and troubleshooting of mission-critical systems across multiple environments of enterprise applications. Additionally, you will collaborate with other engineering and support teams across the organization to help execute initiatives, provide assistance and guidance in setting up and using enterprise tools that need infrastructure.

What You'll Get to Do:

  1. Support, deploy, administer, and maintain ARC’s infrastructure platforms, both software and hardware, including computer systems and servers, virtualization platforms, enterprise storage, backup and replication solutions, and observability tools. Apply industry and company standards to support optimal systems operation by following standard operating procedures ensuring systems are secure by addressing data from vulnerability scans, recoverable by ensuring backups are up to date, and leveraging infrastructure as code / configuration management is leveraged
  2. Provide infrastructure systems support by responding to both system generated events and incidents escalated by other teams. Additionally, provide capacity planning, system triage and maintenance activities to ensure a robust platform for our applications. Create proactive maintenance plans coordinated with stakeholders and other teams preventing the problems before they arise.
  3. Leverage resource management and observability platforms as well as cost management tools, and work with engineering teams to identify resources that are candidates for performance and/or cost optimization.
  4. Provide assistance and guidance on setting up and using new or existing enterprise tools that require infrastructure and establish a full lifecycle management for the infrastructure

You'll Bring These Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related engineering field; or equivalent work experience
  • 3+ years experience in systems and infrastructure administration role (Preferred both Linux / Windows)
  • Experience deploying, managing, and administering infrastructure hardware (Cisco® UCS, DELL®/EMC®, or equivalent)
  • Experience deploying, managing, and administering enterprise storage systems and virtualization platforms (VMware®)
  • Experience deploying, managing, and administering enterprise backup systems, replication solutions, and observability platforms
  • Experience in administration, automation, and orchestration of large-scale Windows and Linux environments using configuration management solutions (CFEngine, Ansible, Salt Stack, Puppet, Chef, VMware® Orchestrator, or similar)
  • Proficient with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, Python, or similar)
  • Proficient in understanding and adopting security best practices and access controls for systems/platforms deployment and administration
  • Functional knowledge with networking concepts and troubleshooting (TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, HTTP/HTTPS, routing, switching, firewalls, etc.)
  • Experience with Cloud administration (AWS) and containerization platforms (Docker/Kubernetes) is a plus
  • Ability to discover and define non-functional requirements and to transform them into technical requirements and solution definition
  • Strong communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to communicate technical information to nontechnical audiences
  • A strong intellectual curiosity to continually challenge what exists and explore improvements to best meet evolving business and market
  • A passion for continual improvement, ability to challenge the status quo and a willingness to work to with others to improve the environment
